Location: 7.5 miles off of the coast of Dover

Damage: There were many damaged buildings in Kent with large cracks in them. After the quake, many people were left without a place to stay, and most people with homes that only shook from the vibrations had their power and gas supplies shut off. Thanks to the Salvation Army, those without homes to live in were given shelter.

Occurred: March 27th, 1964

Time: 5:36 pm (at epicenter), 11:36 pm (EST)

Earthquake Magnitude: 9.2. This earthquake was a massive earthquake.

Location: 75 miles east of Anchorage, Alaska

Damage: Many buildings were destroyed and some collapsed. Landslides caused 130 acres to be destroyed by landslides alone. This tremor killed 131 people with tsunami and earthquake combined. There was $311 million in property loss (in 2013 currency = $2.3 billion).
