Stroke and Depression
My husband had a stroke. This is out story.
On May 14th, 2012, my husband Jake had a stroke. This came directly out of the blue. We are only in our mid fifties. Jake was happy and in excellent health until Hell broke loose.
My cell phone rang at 2:15 pm. I was out in the garden and nearly missed the call. It was the hospital. They told me Jake was in the emergency room more than a two-hour drive away from where we live. He’d had a stroke at work. No vision, no movement and no speech.
After three dreadful days in intensive care, Jake was moved over to rehab—and the long journey back began. Since my husband is the only breadwinner in the family, I have aside from caring for him trying to figure out how to pay the bills and mortgage, and not the least trying to make sense of it all.
