Carrying capacity and Changes in Population
Carrying Capacity- the maximum,equilibrium number of organisms of a particular species that can be supported indefinitely in a given environment.

An example of an organism that lives in the mountain ecosystem is the mule deer. When there is drought the population decrease because mule deer depend on plants and drought provide less plant production When there are no droughts they're a lot of deer to where there is not enough resources.
Limiting Factors/Prey predator relationship
limiting factors- an environment factor that tends to limit population.
An example of prey/predator is the mule deer and gray wolf. The limiting factors are their water and food and if they over populate and run out food mule deer will die. If the mule deer dies the gray wolf will starve.
Producers: an organism, as a plant, that is able to produce its own food from inorganic substances.
Examples: Pink mountain heather, Fir and Hemlock trees.
Herbivore: An animal that feeds on plants.
Consumers: an organism, usually an animal, that feeds on plants or other animals.
Examples: Black bears, mule deer,sheep and mountain lions.
Omnivore: An animal that eats plants and animals.
Decomposers: an organism, especially a soil bacterium, fungus, or invertebrate, that decomposes organic material.
Examples: banana slugs,fungi,worms,bacteria.
Scavengers: An animal that feeds on carrion,dead plant material.
Examples: vultures, raccoon , lion
The producers get their energy from the sun. The consumers get their energy from the producers and other animals. Decomposers get their energy consumers.
Food web vs Food chains
Food webs are more realistic because one animal doesn't eat just one thing, but on a food web it shows all the different things the animal eats. On a food chain you only see the one of the thing the consumer eats.
Explanation of removing a population
If a population is removed another will over populate with out the the other population managing it.
Trophic Level and Energy Pyramid
The use behind the pyramid it has multiple levels just like energy. If you use a cylinder you wont have those levels to represent the energy.
The producers are the largest level because they are the main source of energy for consumers. Predator are the smallest level because there are less predators.
