Exploring the C3 Framework...

The College, Career and Civic Life (C3) Framework was designed by a variety of social studies professionals to compliment the currently adopted Common Core Standards. Common Core, by itself, seems to guide teachers to use social studies as a literacy strategy. This is clearly not in keeping with most of the areas in the social studies. Historical inquiry should not be a mere path to deeper literacy, but should be increasing the student's ability to critically engage in the development of historical understanding and empathy.

This series -- Exploring the C3 Framework -- will dig into various aspects of the C3 Framework in order to help you better understand the value in helping our students grow in their understanding of the social studies.
