Altair is 16.7 light years from the earth and it is one of the closets stars visible without the aid of a telescope. It is the brightest star in the Aquila constellation and is 1.8 times the mass of the sun and is 11 times its luminosity. However this brightness can vary a tine bit but this difference is almost unnoticeable. The star appears to be blue but in fact it is actually white in color when examined closely. Altair has one of the fastest rotation speeds at 210 kilometer per second or 131 miles per second.
