A Career As A Video Game Designer

Career Goal- Video Game Designer

Career Overview-Game and interactive media design programs teach people how to design and program interactive media for computer and video games and Internet applications. Students in game and interactive media design programs may be able to specialize in modeling, virtual environments, and simulation.

Career Skills and Interests-Should be good with designing pictures and making something look nice with good quality and should like having lots of ideas in what their next project or plans might be to design.

Career Working Conditions-Usually sitting at a computer or drawing something to make on the computer. Surrounded by inspiring stuff to get them inspired to create something. Surrounded by people that love to play games and are very creative.

Career Wages and Outlook-Wages are usually around $70,000 a year. Video games have become big business. We're talking about a multi-billion dollar industry that has now outgrown many other industries in a very short period of time. Video games are no longer looked upon as kids only entertainment. Walk into any video games outlet, and you will see 20-30 year olds checking out the latest versions of Mass Effect, God of War, or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. With the releases of the Xbox One, the PS4 and the Nintendo Wii U, producing games will be harder and a lot more involved. Video game designer teams producing these games have ballooned in size to meet the demand of a next gen experience.
