The Sons of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty was a political organization shrouded in secrecy focused on patriotic acts whose purpose was to undermine British rule in the Americas.
Due to the Stamp Act, many individuals in each colony were outraged with the British. Through communication, these individuals would intimidate and threaten Stamp distributors to resign. This group started as "the Loyal Nine" and consisted of artisans and shopkeepers, but as the group grew in size they became known as "the Sons of Liberty".
In many of the colonies it was the the Sons of Liberty responsibility to keep the peace. Wherever these groups were located, they were either directed or lead by leading men of the community.
Many members of the Sons of Liberty were printers and publishers, and they would help advertise the Sons' actions and promote their cause.
