Question: Could Jamestown have been saved without slave labor?
Jamestown could have not been saved with out slavery because the article says "This system attracted many poor people desperate to leave England but who could not afford to pay for their passage. So, they would sell themselves into temporary slavery or servitude for a period of usually 5-7 years." The slaves would work for their master until the end of the 5-7 year period. At the end the would get a place to stay, little money, food, freedom, and tools.
