by Lauren Oliver

Lena spent her entire childhood trying to show her community that deliria was not inheritable and she was not like her mother, infected. That was until the summer before her procedure where her feelings would be taken away and love would no longer be possible. After seeing a mysterious boy during her evaluation, and many times after, she has to make a decision. Believe the stories she grew up being told or follow her heart.

Lena Haloway and Alex Sheathes are the protagonists in this book. They do not believe what the government says about love.

The government is the antagonist in this book. The government has led the whole world to believe that love is a disease called amor deliria nervosa.

You can build walls all the way to the sky and I will find a way to fly above them. You can try to pin me down with a hundred thousand arms, but I will find a way to resist. And there are many of us out there, more than you think. People who refuse to stop believing. People who refuse to come to earth. People who love in a world without walls, people who love into hate, into refusal, against hope and without fear.

Love overpowers all

I recommend this book and the rest in the series to young adults who liked the Hunger Games and Divergent series.
