Fierce Determination Gives Hope
Raising awareness about H.I.V aids trough films
Actor Matthew McConaughey, with his matchless energy, gives an unpredictable yet outstanding performance in "Dallas Buyers Club." The film, directed by CJean-Marc Vallée, tells the unbelievably inspiring true story of Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey), a man originated from Texas and diagnosed with H.I.V in the 1980’s. After receiving his diagnosis, this strikingly bold heterosexual man decides to take his fate into his own hands. Because of the lack of legal medication available in the country, Ron embarks on a journey to help others living with the disease get the medication that is needed to start a proper treatment.
Embedded with a grant sense of creativity and determination, Ron ends up in Mexico, where he finds useful information that will help him fulfill his audacious task. Eventually, he finds a way to import the prohibited pills across the US border. Ron’s contraband then sells the unapproved medicines to his buyers, giving them hope of having access to a better treatment.
Because of its brilliant actors, such as Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto, the movie’s characters come to life remarkably. Matthew McConaughey’s credible performance of an utterly homophobic man’s evolving personality gives a greater purpose to the movie. It finds a way to reach out to the viewers, giving them the opportunity to see beyond the too many stereotypes H.I.V aids patients have to live with constantly. Furthermore, even if the main character sells his treatment, the solidarity among his buyers is undeniable. The values of compassion and determination are at its best in the inspiring and uplifting movie that is "Dallas Buyers Club."
