Salt Creek, Oak Brook, Illinois. Behind the Doubletree Hotel. Salt Creek flows just behind the parking lot of the Doubletree Hotel (approx. 20 m.). We saw sediment in the creek that appeared to be sand. We suspect the sand washed down from the parking lot. Of course we found trash along the banks of the creek. This appeared to be an attempt to control erosion from parking lot runoff. On the other side of the creek were houses. This house had canoes, showing the recreational use of Salt Creek. We saw three Mallard Ducks swimming in the creek. We didn't have time to look for other organisms living there. Behind one of the houses: access to the creek via stairs. Notice that the bank has been stabilized against erosion with riprap.
