Oprah Gail Winfrey was born January 29, 1954, in the small town of Kosciusko, Mississippi. While growing up she was sexually abused and she stayed with her father growing up. Winfrey showed the  character trait of self-reliance by getting herself out of the situation at hand and working her way up to where she is now. She first started working in radio and telecasting in Nashville in 1971. In 1976, she started hosting the show, People are Talking, she worked there for 8 years. In 1986, she started the Oprah Winfrey show, which led to her fame.

Oprah Winfrey won the title for Greatest African-American Philanthropist. She also won the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. In 2011, after her show ended, she started the Oprah Winfrey Network. Oprah showed the character traits of success and ambitiousness, by winning the titles listed above and also revealing secrets of her personal life. Winfrey stated that she had a half sister born in 1963 that she had just found out about 3 months before the Oprah Winfrey Show came to a conclusion.
