Free verse

  • Free verse is an open form of poetry. It does not use consistent meter patterns, rhyme, or any musical pattern. It thus tends to follow the rhythm of natural speech. Much pattern and discipline is to be found in free verse. The internal patterns of sounds, the choice of exact words, and the effects of associations give free verse its beauty. Because of a lack of predetermined form, free verse poems have the potential to take truly unique shapes.
  • Some kind of attraction that is neither
Animal, vegetable, nor mineral, a power not
    Solar, fusion, or magnetic
And it is all in my head that
    I could see into his
    And find myself sitting there.
