The Byzantine Empire

Half of the former Roman Empire

The One that lasted a thousand years

Even though the Byzantine empire was once part of the roman Empire, they changed very much once they split from the Romans. The Byzantines started using the Greek language and the Eastern Orthodox religion. They had three main contributions to the world. They created Justinian's Code which was their set of laws, their art and architecture which was usually supported by the Christian Church, and the biggest contribution is that they preserved the Greek and Roman culture; without that, we might not have known of the Romans or the Greeks. Their capital was Constantinople

While the Roman Empire fell in the Middle ages, the Byzantine Empire survived.
