Sergei P. Korolev
Sergei P. Korolev was born on December 30, 1906 in Zhitomir Russia. He was interested in the science of flight since he was a child. He got a degree in aeronautical engineering at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute. Korolev and Fridrikh Tsander founded the Moscow Rocketry organization, GIRD (Group for Investigation of Reactive Motion). Years later Korolev was arrested because he was announced politically unwanted. After WWII he was let free and sent to Germany to study the V-2 rocket. Sergei P. Korolev died on January 14 1966 from a failed hemorrhoid operation.
