Indians Class 1A State Champions!

Girls Cross Country Takes Home 1st Place

The Pocahontas Area Indians girls cross country team won the district meet and traveled to Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge for the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday, November 1st.  The second ranked Indian girls defeated the first ranked and defending champion cross country team from Pekin in the 1A division.  The girls were crowned 1A State Champions with a score of 79.

Sophomore Grace Meyer received all state honors for placing 10th.  She was followed in by sophomore Elle Ruffridge (13th), sophomore Faith Meyer (23rd), senior Rose Meyer (37th), junior Kara Neumann (61st), freshman Katie Berte (96th), and sophomore Bailey Vainreb (118th).

Pocahontas Area School held a pep rally on Thursday to send off the Cross Country team to state, as well as an assembly to honor their achievements on Monday morning.
