About DiPG Brain Cancer
DIPG is one of the most rare types of cancer. DIPG is a tumor cancer it grows at the stem if the brain. DIPG is normally in kids 5- 10 years of age. DIPG stands for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Giloma. DIPG means that an area of the brain has formed an abnormal growth of tissue in the middle part of the brain stem.
Symptoms of DIPG is problems with eye movement, weakness, drooping on one side of the face, sudden appearance of hearing problems, trouble chewing or swallowing, limb weakness, difficulty standing or walking, and unbalanced limb movement.
Researchers do not know yet exactly what causes DIPG. DIPG occurs when something goes wrong with process of cell reproduction.
Stages of DIPG
Stage 0: the cancer has just formed
Stage 1,2,3: The tumor in the brain has enlarged.
Stage 4: DIPG has metastasize, of spread, to other organs of the body.
There are currently no treatments for DIPG. Doctors May use chemotherapy to slow down the growth of the tumor. During that time if you have that done you may feel weak.
DIPG has a 0% survival rate. Once you have it you have it there is nothing they can do but give you medicines to slow down the process. Although they are trying to come up with a cure. You have a higher survival rate if your cancer is is in remission. Remission means that the cancer has shrunk, stopped growing, or completely diapered. you are never cured of cancer, but your cancer can remission forever.
