The Vietnam war

Who: Northern Vietnam communists with allies such as Viet Cong Won against Southern Vietnam and allies like the U.S.
What: The Vietnam war was a war to unify Vietnam to the Northern communists but to Southern Vietnam was war to stop the Northern communists. To the U.S. it was part of the Cold War policy of containment to keep communists from spreading.
Where: In Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia even though other places were involved, those were the 3 main places.
When: The war lasted over 20 years. From November 1st, 1954- April 30th, 1975.
Why: The Northern communists were trying to unify Vietnam and Southern Vietnam was trying to avoid that. The trigger was that North Vietnam attacked South Vietnam.
Summary: The Vietnam war was a 20 year war where Northern Vietnam communists with allies like Viet Cong Won fighting against Southern Vietnam with allies like the U.S. The Northern communists were trying to spread communism across Vietnam and South Vietnam was trying to stop them. The U.S. was fighting for the cold war policy (the U.S. trying to prevent communism.)
