How I approached the problem-
To find the area of the oil spill the fastest and most efficient way. I split the shape into multiple pieces and added it all together, so I would have the most accurate area.
The total area of the oil spill is 31,641.75 square miles.
Question 1. No, I don't think it is an exact measurement of the oil spill because no all of the sides of the spill were straight or rounded so a shape isn't going to be perfectly cut from it so it won't a perfect match for the area.
Question 2. I think it will be smaller because we cut edges to make it fit the shapes we were measuring better.
