1. This condition affects an estimated 1 in 50,000 people.
2. It is a condition that affects the development of bones and other tissues of the face.
3. In severe cases, underdevelopment of the facial bones may restrict an affected infants airway causing potentially life- threatening respiratory problems.
4. Most Infected individuals have undeveloped facial bones, particularly the cheek bones, and a very small jaw and chin (micrognathia).
Causes : Heredity
Detection: ultra-sound, prenatal test
Treatment: Can have surgery but will not completely cure birth defect
