"Don't be afraid, things are never to much for you to handle"
I believe in the show ring that you are their for a reason,
the reason might not be clear to you,
the reason might not make no sense,
the reason that you are standing in that ring though is because you are doing something that you love,
the reason I do it is because of self-expression,
Sure I might not have the prettiest cow, or the most expensive cow, but I have a lifetime of fun memories that I will never forget,
I believe in striving in that ring proud,
I believe in holding your head up high no matter what,
I believe in not being afraid to show your happiness no matter what,
If I didn’t show, I wouldn’t know what I would do, I wouldn’t know all the stuff I know now,
And I believe in being able to show everyone what you do and what you believe in.
Why I do it
I am doing my credo on showing cows, because it is what I have been doing for the past eight years. At first I was scared of a cow, then when my sister started showing them I got a little bit jealous. So I talked daddy into buying me a cow, it wasn’t the prettiest, but it was just right for me.
I learned this credo by just doing it, because I show cows. If I didn’t show cows then I don’t know where I would be today. I wouldn’t know half as many people as I do now in the cattle industry.
I believe that this is important to me because if a 1,000 pound cow steps on your foot in the show ring you can’t just bust out crying in front of everyone. You have to hold the tears back, and try to make it through the pain. I have had both of my feet stepped on by one cow, it felt like they were bleeding and broke, but I pulled through it, I wanted to cry but I didn’t.
I do think that my credo will change as I grow older, because I am able to show until I am 22. The show industry changes every year. This year the want the cows to look more fluffier, and more fat, than they have wanted in the past years.
I’m sure that there is a lot of people out their that would challenge this credo. But if you aren’t careful around a cow you can get hurt real easily. Trust me I know from experience.
