What is it?
The role of an environmental engineer is to solve problems in the environment. They do a variety of things, such as ways of cleaning up our water (drinking and salt), developing air pollution equipment, designing more effective recycling systems, and finding safe ways to get rid of of toxic waste. They ultimately help the environment, and are potentially saving all of our lives.
Why is it important?
I find environmental engineers to be the most fascinating because they help the environment, get to work outside and it seems like fun. I love the outdoors and protecting it...that's what I think is most important for our generation to do. We don't need anymore fancy gadgets of plasma-screen televisions. What our world is begging for us to do is to save it from ourselves. And that's what environmental engineering is all about.
