College and Career
7th Period English1 Mrs. Mendez
Texas A&M University
This University is perfect for one who wants to go into the engineering field. It is one of the nation's top engineering schools and has a lot to offer. I would like to attend this college because it is not that far from home and I feel that it would be the best choice for building a better future. It also offers athletics which help keep one's grades up and encourages self-motivation. In my case the football is the program I would look in to, it is successful leading many athletes to the NFL. I also believe that this university promotes good education and high standards.
The Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M was founded in April 17, 1871, its location is on the north side of the campus in College Station,Texas. It is the largest college on the campus with more than 12,000 students. The college is also repeatedly ranked among the nation's top public programs. Its students are always involved in activities such as the 12th man, Aggie run, and bonfires. With the students being so involved it creates such a great environment and makes new students feel more welcome and feel more at home.

How its like being on Campus.
Students are always holding events whether it be a club that's hosting it, a tradition, or a school event there is something to do almost everyday. And like most campuses they offer housing, dining, and many perks to those who decide to live on the campus. They have many clubs and ways to pass the time with fellow students.
Why I chose this career path.
I chose this career not only because it rewards one with good money but because I love to work with my hands and create things. Yet there are many skills that I still need to master, such as patience which is a vital part of this field. This career path also allows me to be able to move around to different fields and not always do the same things over and over. This career is perfect for those who like to explore new things, make things, and figure out how things work.
I would like to start my own shop with my brother allowing me to be my own boss and possibly expand to more places and become successful in something that will always be needed in the world, whether it be in an auto tune and body shop or just fixing and making machines. It also gives me the skills I need to do my own work and fix electrical things, have a side job doing little things fixing things in houses, cars, etc.
How is the job?
This job's salary can vary with employer and also with experience and education level, minimum being a bachelor's degree. But still the starting salary is around $70,000 a year and will rise as you gain more experience possibly reaching salary of $125,000 annually. Hours also vary in this field averaging around 9 to 10 hours a day and 45 to 50 hours weekly. This is not accounting for extra hours due to upcoming deadlines and/or broken machinery. Those who are new to this field tend to work more hours. The workplace conditions depend on your choice of job with some being behind a computer in a desk to being in a factory where some precautions measures might be taken. But several perks are offered in this field such as, health insurance, paid days off, vacation time, and bonuses added on to ones paycheck.
