How would you write if you had the heart of a scientist?

My question is 'how' rather than 'what'

To follow the trail and look toward the sky

Scientists tell us that writing, for them, is often an intellectual journey from noticing and wondering to one of greater clarity and understanding and then ultimately to public expression. These are often deeply felt personal journeys to understand 'something' that had compelled the journey. The trail may be marked by places to stop and look toward the sky, toward the greater and more spiritual sense of what it could all mean.

When I read science writers reflecting about writing, I feel the courageous heart of the searchers behind the quotes. I wonder, what does this tell me as a writer?

What I hope to learn

I am eager to learn how science and writing come to intersect in this project, and how science pushes our understanding of what writing is and could be.
