Caring Classroom

A caring classroom consists of the relationship between the students and the teacher. In order to have a caring classroom, you should have a mix of Positive Relationships, Respect, Student Involvement, and Class  Identity.  These characteristics will evolve the classroom into a unified community among the students and teachers, making the students feel more comfortable and free to express themselves to people they know can trust.

Student Involvement

The student should feel that they are safe to express their opinions and ideas without judgement from others.  It is highly vital for students to know that the teacher is willing to accept any kinds of offers and will gladly appreciate their help. This makes the student feel important and have a sense of responsibility. It also brings creative and fun activities that the students can enjoy together.  This will strengthen the class bond and create a safe environment for others too.

Positive Relationships

Showing a sense of interest, acceptance and gratitude towards students makes their self esteem get higher.  They feel valued and excited when teachers appreciate them & when they learn their name during the first few days of school.  It is possible to develop a friendly relationship with the student, when there is a limit to what can and can't be done.  The teacher should have a good combination of supremacy with a splash of affection towards their students.  The teacher can also help students develop good relationships with their peers. Activities such as team building exercises or group activities will make the classroom feel more like a unified community.

The most essential part to a classroom is respect.  It is crucial to the teacher that no amount of disrespect be tolerated between the students. There should be no gossiping, teasing or harassing. When scholars feel out of place or shy around others, they are targets to bullying or teasing.  Group  activities and projects, will settle the barrier between students and form understanding between them.

Class Identity

Traditions in the classroom make the bond between the students feel more friendly.  When they are around similar customs or activities, they are more open to get to know each other and have a more unified environment. Similar activities that are practiced every day in the classroom, make them look forward to that special part.  They feel comfortable and used to every day customs and traditions, which makes them feel like they belong to a group or team.
