MISSION: INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION
- SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED THEIR TIME AND HARD WORK TO HELP THE ISS: Astronaut Bill McArthur and Russian Cosmonaut Valery Tokarev of Exp.12 received thousands of post cards of well wishes from men, women and children across the globe via electronic mail
- This is the International Space Station orbiting the earth today(picture below). The first launch of the ISS was in November 20,1998 where Zarya(a major element of the ISS) launched in Baikonur Cosmodrone. After the first(unmanned)launch was made, then a lot of other parts were attached to make the ISS. The main goal of the ISS is so scientists could study what happens and how people can live in space. Some of the technology and equipment they had to use was satellites and launching gear.
Some Fun Facts- Orbital Height:205.05 miles(330 km) Orbital Speed: 4.79 miles/s(7.71 km/s) It weighs almost 1 million pounds including visiting spacecraft(picture 120,000 g. of milk in supermarket cartons in your mind.)
Thank you for your time and we hope you have gotten some more knowledge about the ISS. Thanks, hope you enjoyed:)!!
