They have multiple classes a day for weeks at a time, so they never have a boring moment during their job. SCUBA instructor need to be in good physical condition, if not then they won't be able to help their students if something goes wrong. They need to be able to move and handle the large tanks on their backs well. They need to be in good medical condition too, if something is wrong with their bodies then it could get worse in the water with the pressure. SCUBA instructors office is the big blue ocean, they spending their free time, working time, and vacation time in the ocean. To become a office junky to the ocean someone just has to go to the courses provided by NUAI and PADI. They are the only ones that give out certifications and job for being a SCUBA instructor. It is one thing to get certified to be a SCUBA instructor but it is a whole nother thing to be employed. Just like everyone else finding a job in this economy, it is hard. There are jobs out there but with everyone trying to be a instructor there is not enough for everyone.
