desert

biotic factors- all living factors in an ecosystem

Animals-

Black-tailed jackrabbit •  Caracal • Fennec fox • Pronghorn • Meercat • Kangaroo rat. •

Plants-

Blackbrush • Buckhorn cholla • Mormon tea • Big Galleta grass • Mojave yucca.

abiotic factors- non-living factors in an ecosystem

Very little rainfall • clouds • very hot temperatures • sand • gravel • dry air • sunlight • humidity.

carrying capacity and changes in a populations

Carrying capacity is the number of individuals that the earth can support given its available resources without damaging the environment for future generations.

The desert changes over time by the weather that the desert has or the animals that will come there over time.

limiting factors

A limiting factor in a system is an input or variable such that a small change in it from the present value would cause a non negligible change in an output or other measure of the system.

Example-  10 lizards may live in a habitat that has enough water, cover & space to support 20 lizards, but if there is only enough food for 10 lizards, then the population will not grow any larger.

Predator prey relationship- predator(hawk) prey(lizard) limiting factors can affect them because if the hawk gets to the water first and there is no more water and the lizard comes by, then the hawk can eat the lizard.

energy roles

Producers, consumers, decomposers they are differentiated by how they get their energy.

examples-producers-sunlight// consumers-camel//decomposers-millipedes.

food webs & food chains

Food webs are more realistic than food chains because plenty of my desert animals eat more than one producer. if the insects in my picture were taken away the lizards, scorpions, tarantulas would die.

tropisms

turning bending movement of an organism toward or away from an external stimulus, such as light heat or gravity.

the role of decomposers

A change or the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited of its environments. if you didn't have adaptations how would you survive to blend in with your surroundings. For example-types of fur, like for a bear its fur would be brown for trees & for a cactus its color would be green for grass .

If you put a cactus in the ocean it would die because the ocean is cold and it has to be in hot weather.

Decomposers in the desert recycle the nutrients in the dead organisms back into the soil. if there were no decomposers in the desert

Decomposers in the desert are~ rattlesnakes, lizards, beetles,&&. millipedes.

natural selection

Natural selection is the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring.

An example of natural selection is when there is a white and brown moth and a bird attacks the moths.the brown moth would get away because it could blend in with the trees, and the white moth would die off.

You need to add pictures for your biotic and abiotic factors as well as catch up and complete steps 3&4.
