The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the U.S from the French. It took 10 years to finish it. The idea came from a man named Frederic- August Bartholdi.
It stands to be 305 feet tall, visitors could be inside and have to climb 354 steps to get to the crown. The statue was covered in 300 sheets of copper. Her full name is "Liberty Enlightening of The World". It's located on Liberty Island, in the New York Harbor, USA. She represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of Liberty. Liberty Island used to be called " Bledloe's Island". The seven spikes on her hat represent the seven seas and the seven continents.
There are even 25 windows in her crown. The face was modeled to be the face of the sculptor's mother, Charlotte. It is made up of copper, iron, and steal. She has even been in movies, such as ' The Planet of the Ape's" and " The Day after Tomorrow". The Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous statue's in the world.
