Global Positioning System-GPS

I like to think that there is a lot of technology I could live without such as video games or social media, however something I have come to find is that I am spoiled by one type of technology: GPS. In the last two weeks I have used my GPS application on my phone to find absolutely everything as I try to acquaint myself with a new city in a new state. I used it to make the 7 hour drive from Houston and it even saved me time by navigating me around traffic! I have religiously relied on the OU app to find all of my classes and how to find the nearest book store or grocery store. I like to think that I know how to use a paper map, however I hope I never have to figure out that I don't.

I like to think of myself as directionally challenged. how to I have driven someplace at least a few times I can't remember get there, and I would be completely lost if I didn't have my GPS. I use it for everything.

I didn't even think of this as science until just now, and now I'm realizing how much I depend on it. It's weird that we consciously think of media aspects of science, but no so much technical aspects that we use in our daily lives.
