"The Regulars Are Coming":
Revere was very involved in the political movement of the #ColonialAmerica. He was a member of the Freemason's, the Son's of Liberty and a local Boston political group. His job within the group was mainly as a courier, a person who delivers messages and as an engraver of propaganda pictures.
Paul Revere is best known for his ride through the Boston area alerting Samuel Adams and John Hancock that the British were coming! Revere was one of two people sent to alert Adams and Hancock. Each took a different route to avoid both being caught. He was to show two lanterns from the Old North Church if the British were coming by land and one lantern if by sea. Shortly after warning them, he was arrested by British troops. He didn't ride through towns yelling the British were coming because there were British hidden through out the land who would have taken him into custody if they new of this. It is quite possible that he referred to the British as "regulars".
After Revere's famous ride, he became a commander in the military but wasn't very successful and actually was tried as a coward. He left the military and became a very successful businessman.
