To achieve soft cookies you use shortening in the fat.

To achieve crispy cookies you use margarine for the fat in the cookie recipe.

To achieve chewy cookies you have to use butter for the fat in the recipe.


There are three type of fats , There is Butter, Margarine, and shortening.

Depending on the fat you use on your mix of cookies, it will depend on how the texture would be on the cookie. If you use Butter it would most likely be Chewy. If you use margarine the cookies would come out crispy, and if you use shortening it would come out very soft and fluffy.

Some safety tips would be make sure you put your cookies on a cooling rack so the cookies can cool down before eating so you wont burn your mouth. Also make sure to use oven mittens to take out your cookie trays so you wont burn your hands.
