The different Cuban recipes and cuisines thoroughly reflect the lives of the Cubans, displaying a simple yet bold culture with many lively and colorful flavors.

History of the Cookies

Cuban Shortbread Cookies originated in the city of Morón in central Cuba and are a specialty of the town. The cookies are sold in bakeries as a favored food product. People from this town got the ingredients from the abundant resources around them. For example, Cuba was known for its production of sugar through sugar canes. There were many fruity citruses in the region, making the lime peel/lemon peel easy to access.
