CPR

Adult/Child CPR

*check scene *once confirmed the scene is safe check the person for responsive actions or signs of life *activate EMS (call 911) be sure that you tell a specific person to call rather than yelling it to a room full of people *start with 30 chest compressions at a rate of at least 100 per minute for an adult: 2 inches deep. For a child: at least 1/3 the depth of the chest. *follow by 2 breaths * continue the cycle of 30 compressions and 2 breaths until paramedics or AED or Emergency Medical Services arrive. switch off with someone if you get tired.

Infant CPR

* check the scene * once scene is determined safe check the baby by tapping its feet and legs for a response and/or signs of life. * activate EMS (call 911) be sure to be specific with who is calling. * go into 30 compressions at a rate of 100 per minute with to fingers of the same hand, at least 1/3 the depth of the chest. *give two small breaths *continue the cycle of 30 compressions and 2 breaths until paramedics or Emergency Medical Services arrive.

Adult/Child Conscious Choking

* ask the victim if he/she is choking * activate EMS (call 911)*if is unable to breathe or cough put arms around them (if child lower to their level)-your hands should go under their arms *with your thumb tucked into your fist, use the thumb side of your hand above the naval (belly button) and pull inwards and upwards until object comes out or victim goes unconscious. If the victim goes unconscious lower gently to the ground and start CPR

Infant Conscious Choking

* check scene *check baby for signs of breathing or coughing * check mouth for objects * give 5 back blows * flip baby over and give 5 chest thrusts *check mouth for objects * continue cycle of 5 back blows and 5 chest thrusts and check mouth for objects until baby goes unconscious or EMS arrives.

Adult/Child Unconscious Chocking

If your patient has gone from conscious to unconscious choking lower safely to the ground, activate EMS if is not already done and start with 30 chest compressions and mouth check, if object is not seen give two breathes.(if breathes do NOT go in reposition and try two more breathes).if object has been spotted swipe away and give two breathes. continue 30 compressions and two breathes until paramedics arrive or patients regains consciousness

Infant Unconscious Choking

If they child isn't already, lower gently to the ground. Activate EMS (911) if not done already. give 30 chest compressions at a rate of 100 per minute with your two fingers on one hand 1/3 the depth of the chest. mouth check and two breathes if breathes do NOT go in reposition and try another two breathes. continue 30 compressions and mouth check with two breathes until paramedics arrive or an object is spotted. if object is seen sweep with smallest finger and continue two breathes and 30 compressions until consciousness is regained.

Atrial Bleeding

apply pressure to wound with gloves hand or cloth, if cloth has been bled through add more cloth. NEVER TAKE OFF CLOTH AND REPLACE.... it will rip off the clotted cells and continue to bleed. wrap the wound from the top/bottom and work you way to the heart. ( ex. if cut on arm, start at the hand and work your way up the arm until all the wound is covered) once wound is covered with wrap and taped. wait for paramedics to arrive.

AED

to use an AED *turn it on * place pads on person ADULT: above left nipple and below right nipple. INFANT: one on front chest and one on back. the AED will tell u to stand clear DO NOT touch the patient while it is giving a shock. Then do what the machine tells you to do until paramedics arrive
