What Are The Different Types of Clouds?

(eofdreams.com)

I asked this question before we studied clouds. What I did was list the main clouds, mixed clouds and unusual clouds. I did not list very much information.

Main clouds:

Cumulus

Cirrus

Stratus

Mixed clouds:

Stratocumulus - They form in rows or patches with blue sky in between. Precipitation hardly ever falls from this cloud.

Nimbostraus - They give light precipitation.

Alto stratus - Forms over a large area and produces light precipitation before a storm.

Alto cumulus - Puffy and look like blobs of grey.

Cirrostratus - Very transparent.

Cirrocumulus - They look like cotton balls.

Cumulonimbus - Produces thunderstorms.

Nimbostratus

Unusual clouds: ( Sorry I have no information about these )

Lenticular

Kelvin Helmholtz

Mammatus
