For the week of April 24, 2015

Mathematics: Mary Kemper
Please send names/grade levels/courses of math educators you feel would provide positive contributions to curriculum work this summer. As this year comes to a close, we will reflect on our first year of Revised (2012) TEKS implementation and prepare for the first year of new TEKS in our high school courses. Educator input is invaluable to this process.
Digital instructional materials available via www.CK12.org: Mary has met with a small number of math educators at each secondary campus to introduce them to resources available through CK-12. Educators are exploring this option and preparing to provide feedback to Mary in the next week or so. This FREE resource is available online and educators and learners may create an account and log in through Google. If anyone is interested in exploring this resource, they are welcome to do so. More to come about this, based on the feedback provided.

As you already know, CISD will not have PBL Coaches next school year. Before the end of the year, I will be meeting with the PBL Coaches and will bring a small group together to determine how we might best support PBL campuses and educators who will continue to utilize PBL design inside of UbD. If you have an educator or administrator on your campus that you would like to serve on this small committee, please send me their name(s).

STAAR MATH GRADES 3-8
The attached letter is to be included with the student’s Confidential Student Report (CSR) when the STAAR math results are sent home. It explains why there is only a raw score for math. The letter also lets parents know that a new CSR will be coming home in September with a score based on the newly revised standards the state will be setting this summer.
Information regarding the math scores has been posted to the district website. Each campus will have a link on their website that connects to this information, as well.
