Covalent bonding is a type of chemical bonding that occurs when electron pairs are shared between atoms.
-Substances with covalent bonds:
Are usually not conductive.
Are usually powdery or granular
Usually have low melting points
Are sometimes soluble in water
-In a nonpolar - covalent bond, electrons are shared equally between the atoms, so there is a balanced distribution of electrical charge.
-In a polar - covalent bond, the bonded atoms have an unequal attraction for the shared electrons.
