Lisa Fox Jackson Iowa - Colorado Is Home
Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa moved to Estes Park, Colorado not long after she graduated from Naropa University in Boulder. She is a native of Texas, and says that there will always be a place in her heart for the Lone Star State. But Colorado is home now, and she says she wants to spend the rest of her days there.
She first fell in love with Estes Park when she took a weekend trip to Rocky Mountain National Park with her then-boyfriend. Estes Park is the gateway to the park, the last stop for tourists on their way to the majesty of the Rockies and the wilds of the Front Range. She says that she was totally charmed by the village and is collection of shops and restaurants – to say nothing of the wild elk who are known to meander through town like they own the place. "And I just thought, ‘This is where I want to live,'" she r recalls. "I still had a year to go at Naropa, but there was absolutely no doubt in my mind: I am going to live in Estes Park after I graduate."
By the time Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa graduated a year later, the boyfriend was history, but she was just as determined to get to Estes Park. She made the move and supported herself at first with a waitress job and by doing some freelance editing while at the same time earning her teaching certificate. A few years later she got a job at Estes Park Elementary School and she has been teaching third grade there ever since. She says that she is where she wants to be, and knows that she is lucky to be there.
