Male Reproduction System

-Sperm is the male sex cell

-The penis is the external male sexual organ

-The testes are two small glands that produce sperm and hormones

Female Reproduction System

-Ovaries contain the ova, or eggs and produce hormones

-The uterus shelters and nourishes the fetus

-The vagina is a muscular passageway from the uterus to the outside of the body.

Endocrine System

-Your endocrine system is responsible for the fast growth you experience during your teen years

-The endocrine system is a chemical communication system that controls many body functions

-The endocrine system is made up of glands located throughout the body

Menstruation

-During puberty, egg cells mature and are released by the ovaries in a process called ovulation

-Menstruation can be painful for women.

-Cycle usually lasts from 7 to 28 days

Pregnancy and Labor

-Pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks.

-Babies can be born a few weeks early or a few weeks late.

-If a woman drinks alcohol during pregnancy the baby can have birth defects.

STDs

-Chlamydia is an STD that can effect the reproductive organs, urethia, and anus.

-STDs can recur because the body does not build up an immunity to them.

-STDs are serious diseases that can cause sterility, blindness, deafness, insanity, and death.

HIV/AIDS

-HIV/AIDS is a very serious STD

-HIV/AIDS has no cure.

HIV/AIDS can be deadly.

Abstinence

-Practicing abstinence guarantees you won't contract an STD.

-Everyone should practice abstinence until marriage.

-Good ways to practice abstinence are to participate in group activities.
