Cell: Biology. a usually microscopic structure containingnuclear and cytoplasmic material enclosed by asemipermeable membrane and, in plants, a cellwall; the basic structural unit of all organisms.
difference: Plant and animal cells have several differences and similarities. For example, animal cells do not have a cell wall or chloroplasts but plant cells do. Animal cells are round and irregular in shape while plant cells have fixed, rectangular shapes.
Plant and animal cells are both eukaryotic cells, so they have several features in common, such as the presence of a cell membrane, and cell organelles, like the nucleus, mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum.
nerve cell function: They are responsible for relaying electrical messages to cells and tissues in other organ systems.
blood cell function: There are three types of blood cells; red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. These microscopic cells are responsible for many things. The three basic functions of blood cells are to transport oxygen throughout the body, fight infection and to stop bleeding.
