Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Massachusetts Institute of Technology has caught my attention for the promising future I will acquire by attending the university and how much of an effort I will make to be the best student I can possibly to both benefit myself and the campus. M.I.T has had a profound history in the engineering field and will most likely have an even better future in the same field. I wish to become a computer programmer, and believe this will be the best school to educate me in this field.
“If one wishes to fulfill their dreams, one must chase them to their fullest capability.” M.I.T has the best engineering program in the state and is currently housing the best computer science colleges in the Northern hemisphere. This will guarantee that I get the best education I can. M.I.T. is not only at the top of the list in education, but also in campus life. At M.I.T., there is always something amazing happening, whether it be from the campus or from the city itself, M.I.T. offers one of the best selections of activities to help students relax after a stressful day of schooling. Since they are placed in such a spectacular community, I believe that this help students feel calm and at home. College is a new experience to all, and knowing there is not only your peers but such a strong force of support from the community, will truly make one feel better through this journey.
Growing up, I was always asked by a number of people what I wanted to do when I was older. When I responded “make computers,” I was told by the majority that that was not a girls’ job. Around the age of ten, I knew I wanted to work at Google as a Programmer. It wasn’t until I was much older that I understood how unfair a majority of people are towards females in this field. Women make up about 20% of jobs today as programmers, and this is included in the 17.8% of females as a whole in the computer engineering field. I may not have to say this, but in many ways, the odds have been against me for years. In all, I know M.I.T. is the best choice for me because it will guarantee that the job I wish to apply for will look at how well I do, not my gender. This may not be a sealed deal, yet me going to this school will secure I get the best education, training, and experience for me to succeed in the future.
M.I.T. is my dream school for many reasons. From the campus, to the student life; from the faculty, to the education I will acquire. Attending this school will help me prove all the people that said I “Couldn’t” wrong. Most importantly it will help me become a great engineer, just as many before me have become.
Letter of Recommendation
To Whom it May Concern,
This letter of recommendation is for Victoria Servian as she applies to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ms. Servian is a determined and confident student who strives to achieve. In the five years that I have known Ms. Servian, she has always shown dedication to her work and is eager to learn new things. Not only does she obtain desirable work ethics, but she has a very fine personality, such as being creative, caring, and hard working. She easily gets along with all of her peers and is a true leader.
Victoria Servian has many desirable skills and traits, one of them being that she is always eager to learn new things and be more knowledgable. Even with a fair understanding of a topic, she is shown to dedicate her time to acquiring new information, even if it is something arbitrary. She is one who takes initiative, but observes others as well. It is with all that she learns and applies that deems her as intelligent and to have an understanding of a broad number of subjects. It is what also counts her to be a leader. She easily gets along with others, and whenever someone in the classroom had a problem, they sought her for advice. Nobody ever questioned what she was capable of either, because she gave them no reason to as she excelled in everything with flying colors.
Ms. Servian is very well educated and experienced in engineering and technology, as well as it is a deep passion of hers. With everything she does, she puts her best and smartest efforts into it, handling it with such positivity and determination. It is with no doubt that Ms. Servian’s talents would be greatly used and appreciated in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with who she is and everything that she has accomplished.

Good morning Mr.Wilson,
I am wishing to apply for one of the positions you have for computer engineering open at the New York Google location. We had a conference call earlier this summer, and I am taking the opportunity to apply. In November of last year, I met your colleague William Foxwright and he strongly urged me to look into one of the positions of being a Programmer at your workplace. After much consideration and research; I do think I am qualified for this position and am ready to work at this amazing company.
While attending M.I.T to complete my Masters in Computer Engineering, I developed an unquestionable love for C++,Objective C, and C#. I was also one to compete in the weekly ‘Write Offs,’ which required one to write and debug a set of complex codes. I was engineering classes during my four years of high school and was also in Advanced Media Technology courses. I also graduated with the I.B. (International Baccalaureate) diploma, which required two years of ITGS. Above everything else, I am one whom complete my work to my fullest capabilities. I have always been a hard worker, and do not leave something unfinished or mediocre. It is because of this that I believe I graduated among the Top Ten students, and made the Dean's List throughout my schooling.
Thank you for you considering me for this position and for taking interest from my resume. I have set up another business call with your colleague Mr.Matthewson for this Thursday, and will be there if you wish to speak again. Once again, thank you for your time.

"For those of you who have not heard of a hack (the end goal of hacking), a hack is MIT lingo for a prank. MIT has a long tradition of excellent hacks that go far beyond what other schools could hope to achieve; the most famous of these is the police car on the great dome above Building 10."
