The Proposal for France
By Emma Holley
Hello, King Henry III of France. My name is Elizabeth Donwarden II. I am from London, England, and I would like to accept money from you to sponsor my trip to the New World. I plan on leaving March 4, 1587 and am hoping to land on the east coast of the new world, which is where a mountain system is said to be. I believe this mountain systems has thousands of gold deposits and other precious gem and metal deposits that will make you the richest king in the world!
We need to hurry! Other countries like Spain, Portugal, and England, are exploring what could be our lands, and stealing our gold! They could also claim ALL the land and we could be left with none. You need me to get there quickly, so I can get you your gold and riches. We need these resources to trade and make precious jewelry and new foods to make the other countries jealous!
I know there will be dangers out there, and I am surely prepared. In the case of storms or predators, I will speed out of the way and avoid at all costs. In the case of disease, I shall leave behind all infected, and evacuate immediately. Finally, if I come in contact with the native peoples or other countries, if they are causing treason, I will show no mercy. If they are decent, I shall compromise and find a way to get you our resources.
As you can see, I am the best choice for you to send to the New World. I will need four ships, one-hundred men, and six months of supplies for one-hundred and fifty men. I will get you the riches your country deserves, and feel free to contact me via "snail mail" or the Queen of England.
Your New World explorer,
Elizabeth Donwarden II
