Marvels Civil War

So what happens?

The Marvel universe is heading into turmoil when the government wants to start up and enforce the idea that all super humans must register with the government after a recent explosion in Stamford created by the villain Nitro. Tony stark and Dr. Reed Richards agree to these term and are pro-registration, while captain america is worried that it infringes on their rights as citizens and chose to lead the anti-registration side. Eventually pro-registration sided heroes, such as Spider-man, "go rogue" and alter their opinions when super villains start joining the government to take advantage of the situation.

Death Toll

It is estimated that over 2,000 people died over the course of the war.

Marvel's Civil War was a created as a kind of spoof to Americas post 9-11 and patriot act world, striking the debate of personal liberties vs national security.

the civil war begins when the us government creates the super hero registration act in response to public demands to super hero accountability in the wake of a few superhero related disasters. the most impressionable act of violence that fueled this idea was when the villain nitro bombed 6 city blocks and incinerated an elementary school. 600 civilians died in the disaster and 60 children.

What does the Super Hero Registration Act entail?

the super Hero Registration Act says that all super humans in the U.S. must register with the government as a human weapon of mass destruction. They must also provide the government with their secret identities and personal info which could potentially put family members lives in jeopardy. Signing the acts also means that the super humans must forgo "proper training" at S.H.E.I.L.D. while also having the option to work at S.H.E.I.L.D, gain a salary, and government benefits.

Which side are you on?

The S.H.R Act divided the super hero community into two sides

Pro-Registration-The side lead by Iron Man (Tony Stark), who after first trying to stop the act, became the pro-registration leader. Stark believed that it was pointless to resist the law and that heroes should be required to have training.

Anti-Registration-the side lead by captain america that believed that the act infringed on their civil rights, especially when it came to super heroes revealing their secret identities.

S.H.E.I.L.D becomes the police force for the laws, capturing and tracking down and arresting any unregistered super heroes.

In the end the pro registration side ended up suffering the most losses, and tony stark lost most of his supporters. In the process, of losing supporters, stark turned to super villains to join his team and to hunt down and capture the secret avengers (Cap team of super heroes who were still fighting crime and super villains under the radar).

Once captured, stark plans on putting the super humans in a prison called project 42, something he and Mr. Fantastic built for super villains

Captain America and his followers tried to storm project 42 in order to release the super heroes captured. This creates a full on battle between iron man and captain america that ends up destroying Times Square in New York City.
