An Accomplished Investment Professional
Owner, Hawkes Financial LLC
Financial executive Art Samberg maintains a long history of balancing his demanding professional duties with nonprofit and charitable work. The founder of several successful firms over the last three decades, he managed the Pequot Capital Management, Inc. hedge funds (and its predecessors) from 1986 to 2009. During that time, he helped build Pequot into what was at one time the largest and most profitable hedge fund in the world. In 1999, Art Samberg founded Pequot Capital Management, which he grew to more than $17 billion in under-management investments. He served as chairman, managing director, and chief executive officer of Pequot Capital until 2009.
Today, Arthur Samberg owns and manages family fund operating firm Hawkes Financial. Strictly with family funds, he oversees investments across the several sectors, including healthcare, information technology and high-tech, and alternative energy industries.
Arthur J. Samberg also enjoys nonprofit work and serves on many local, regional, and national philanthropic boards. He currently sits on the directorial boards for Historic Hudson Valley and Jazz at Lincoln Center. He also co-chairs the Columbia Business School’s Board of Overseers, advises the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Energy Initiative, and belongs to the MIT Executive Committee.
