Similarity And Transformation
What you need to know about identifying similarities.
Two figures are similar if the second can be obtained from the first by sequence of transformations and dilations.
Transformation is moving a shape so that it is in a different position, there are 4 types.
Dilation-enlarging or reducing a figure
But identifying similar figures goes way deeper than that, here's an example/steps.
To determine if the two triangles are similar you have to write ratios comparing the sides.
BOLD= BLUE RED = red
CB/CB=3/3 AB/AB=5/5 AC/AC=7/7
All of the sides equal to 1.
Since the ratios are equal, triangle ABC is similar to triangle ABC.
Now you have to figure out what Transformations they used.
They used Reflection and Translation.
