Creedence Clearwater Revival

John fogerty was quoted as saying,"In 1968, I always used to say that i want to make records they would still play on the radio in ten years". The members of the CCR consisted of Doug cliford, John Fogerty, Stu Cook and Tom Fogerty. in the begining Tom Fogerty was the lead singer song writer, guitarist and producer the band had been preforming in bar bands before becoming sucsesful. tom had formed the band the blue velvets in El Cerrito, CA. years later the band signed Fanticy records and had sevral singles as The Golliwogs, but that was unsucsessful.

in 1969 hte band finaly got their first big hit with the song Proud Marry. this single sung by John showed just how talented he was. in fact their real sucsess didnt happen until John took over the bands direction. from 1968 and 1970 the band produced six strong albums, Creedens Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willie and the Poor boys, Cosmo's Factory  and Pendulum. they also had nine singles in the top ten during 1968 and 1971.

     3. Fortunate Son

lyrics -

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no

Yeah!
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more! yoh

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, one

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no no no
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate son, no no no

     2. Born on the Bayou

Lyrics -
Now, when I was just a little boy,
Standin' to my Daddy's knee,
My poppa said, ";Son, don't let the man get you
Do what he done to me.";
'Cause he'll get you,
'Cause he'll get you now, now.

And I can remember the fourth of July,
Runnin' through the backwood, bare.
And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin',
Chasin' down a hoodoo there.
Chasin' down a hoodoo there.

CHORUS:
Born On The Bayou;
Born On The Bayou;
Born On The Bayou.

Wish I was back on the Bayou.
Rollin' with some Cajun Queen.
Wishin' I were a fast freight train,
Just a chooglin' on down to New Orleans.

CHORUS

Do it, do it, do it, do it. Oh, Lord.
Oh get back boy.

I can remember the fourth of July,
Runnin' through the backwood bare.
And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin',
Chasin' down a hoodoo there.
Chasin' down a hoodoo there.

CHORUS

All right! Do, do, do, do.
Mmmmmmm, oh.

     1. Proud Mary

lyrics -

Left a good job in the city,
Workin for the man evry night and day,
And I never lost one minute of sleepin,
Worryin bout the way things might have been.

Chorus:
Big wheel keep on turnin,
Proud mary keep on burnin,
Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river.

Cleaned a lot of plates in memphis,
Pumped a lot of pain down in new orleans,
But I never saw the good side of the city,
til I hitched a ride on a river boat queen.

Chorus

Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river.

If you come down to the river,
Bet you gonna find some people who live.
You dont have to worry cause you have no money,
People on the river are happy to give.

Chorus

Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river.
Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river.

36+

Rollin, rollin, rollin on the river.
