A marketing and management consultant for over 30 years, Dr. David W. Stewart serves a broad range of clientele which includes global corporations such as The Coca-Cola Company and government agencies like the United States Census Bureau. Dr. Stewart has used his proficiency in marketing and consumer psychology as an expert witness for the Federal Trade Commission in cases involving companies that have engaged in deceptive advertising. Dr. David W. Stewart stays abreast of developments in his industry through memberships with numerous professional organizations, including the American Marketing Association, the Association for Consumer Research, and the American Psychological Association's Society for Consumer Psychology.
In addition to his consulting services, Dr. David W. Stewart has taught marketing at higher education institutions since 1980. Presently serving the University of California (UC), Riverside, as a Distinguished Professor of Management and Marketing, he continues to conduct new research and publish books and articles. To date, Dr. David W. Stewart has published more than 220 articles and 8 books, receiving recognition for many of his works as well as several awards. In 1998, he received the American Academy of Advertising's Ivan L. Preston Outstanding Contribution to Research Award. Dr. Stewart began his teaching career as an Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1980. He then taught at the University of Southern California as a Robert E. Brooker Professor of Marketing until 2007, when he became the Dean of the School of Business Administration at UC Riverside and held the role for four years.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. David W. Stewart remains involved in a number of charities and nonprofit organizations. He has supported such groups as the UC Riverside Foundation and the National Charity League, Inc. Dr. Stewart also actively participates in the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership and the City of Riverside Council of Economic and Workforce Advisors.
In 1972, Dr. David W. Stewart completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Two years later, he obtained his Doctor of Psychology and Master's in Psychology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
