Dr. Thomas Diekwisch of the University of Illinois at Chicago

Possessing a diverse professional background of research, administration, and teaching, Dr. Thomas Diekwisch currently makes his professional home at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Dentistry. There, he serves as director of the Brodie Laboratory for Craniofacial Genetics and heads the Department of Oral Biology. Along with teaching courses in a number of the university’s science departments, Dr. Thomas Diekwisch conducts research at the school in topics ranging from enamel formation and periodontics to stem cells and chromatin remodeling.

Dr. Thomas Diekwisch holds two PhDs and a DMD from the Philipps-University of Marburg in Hesse, Germany. Furthermore, he received training at the University of Southern California, where he fulfilled the obligations of a postdoctoral fellowship in craniofacial biology. Later, during his time with the Baylor College of Dentistry, Dr. Diekwisch’s work earned honors from such organizations as the Sid W. Richardson Fellowship and the Texas Alliance Legislative Conference on Science, Technology, and Mathematics Education.
