Should drunk drivers be imprisoned on their first offense?
by: Morgan Avent
10,228 people died in 2010 from a car accident involving alcohol. Drunk drivers should be imprisoned after their first offence because it is against the law, it is the leading causes in car related deaths, and statistically more likely to visit jail more times than if they were imprisoned after drunk driving.
If Drunk Driving is most likely going to kill you then why do it?
More often than not drunk drivers are repeating offenders. They have been in jail already and seem to think that getting a DWI (driving while intoxicated) means nothing once you have already been to jail.
Most times drunk drivers are not lucky enough to be sent to jail by just speeding, running a red light, or not stopping at a stop sign.
Then there is also a possibility that you have taken another life as well as your own.
What if that is your mom in that car that just got turned over? Dad? Sister or Brother? Maybe one day your child? That is one human being that didn't get to have a fair chance at life because someone stole it from them.
