About Fred Maas

Fred Maas is the founder and Managing Director of Pacific EcoCompanies LLC, an investment and advisory firm based in San Diego. In that capacity, Fred Maas has worked with a large multi-national corporation based in New Zealand on its United States activities, serves on the Board of Directors of Cellana, Inc., an algae-based biochemical company, and served as an advisor to a U.N. Ambassador on sustainability issues.

Fred Maas was a founding director of CleanTech San Diego, a trade association committed to fostering the clean technology industry in southern California, and served as a founding director of MOVE San Diego, a social welfare association committed to finding transportation alternatives to the automobile in the region. The latter named Mr. Maas their Green Streets Champion for 2011.

Fred Maas' other accolades include: the American Lung Associations' Clean Air Champion Award, the Urban Land Institute's Smart Growth Champion Award, the California Governor's Award for Environmental and Economic Leadership, and for his volunteer role as head of the City of San Diego's Centre City Development Corporation, Fred Maas was named the Public Official of the Year by the Building Owners and Management Association of San Diego County. In 2009, Mr. Maas was named a Father of the Year by the Father's Day Council and the American Diabetes Association.
